About us

We are so glad you stopped by! Eagle Lake Bakes was formed out of a vision of spreading joy to our family, friends and community through delicious bread and custom bakes.

In a busy world of heavily processed and fast-food we want to be your source of whole food made with real ingredients made fresh just like we enjoy as a family.

As a mom of two active boys, baking gives me the chance to slow down and create something I love. It has been an incredible journey of showing my boys the value of hard work, trials & failures. There are so many amazing life lessons in opening and running a small business. Our motto in the kitchen and at home is the “power of yet”. Everything is learnable with hard work.

We are overwhelmed by just how much love & support our community has already shown us and we are grateful for each and every one of you. Every note, comment & share means the world to us.

If you would like to follow more of our journey drop us a follow on social media. We post opening times and dates for the farm-stand, holiday specials and upcoming events as well as behind the scenes.

Thanks for stopping by!

Meet Fluffy!

Fluffy is our female duck and part of our flock. She loves peas, playing in the hose and free-ranging with our chickens. You will find her delicous eggs in our baked goods.

Farm Fresh eggs

Storage

Fresh eggs carry a “bloom” once laid. This is the protective outer coating that prevents eggs from being exposed to bacteria. Once washed the coating is removed and eggs must be refrigerated.

Store Eggs:

  • Unwashed on the counter for up to 4 weeks

  • Unwashed in the refrigerator for up to 3 months

  • Washed in the refrigerator for up to 2 months

Wash eggs in warm water

Our Chickens are part of our family. They free range and enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables & high-quality Amish feed.

Benefits of fresh sourdough:

We know it is delicious but what is all the hype really about?

  • Improved digestion

  • Contains gut-healthy pre-biotics

  • Reduced glycemic index: Less prone to spike blood sugar

  • Antioxidant properties from the fermentation process

  • Higher in fiber content to improve digestion

  • Contains micronutrients such as B vitamins & minerals (potassium, magnesium, iron & zinc)

Fresh Sourdough

Sourdough bread does not have preservatives. We bake it fresh! It is freshest within a few days of bringing it home. Follow these storage tips to enjoy it best:

  • Store at room temperature

  • Store in a bread box or reusable wrap like Bee’s wax wrap or paper/ bread bag

  • Do not refrigerate

If the loaf is going to last more than a few days the best option is to freeze the entire loaf or freeze the loaf in slices.

To freeze a whole loaf: Wrap the entire loaf in plastic/ cling wrap than place in a gallon ziploc freezer bag. If the loaf is too large to seal completely you can use plastic wrap to seal the open end.

To freeze in slices: A great option for easy use all week! Slice bread and place in a gallon ziplock freezer bag. Slices can be taken out individually and reheated in the microwave for a few seconds or put them right into the toaster.

Condensation?: Condensation happens in the colder months with fresh bread as breads are naturally moist. This is completely normal! You can simply open the bag slightly to let it breath and allow any trapped moisture to escape.
